- rekordbox for Windows or macOS should be downloaded for free from here - https://rekordbox.com/en/download/

- Serato DJ Lite for Windows or macOS should be downloaded for free from here - https://serato.com/dj/lite/downloads

- The laptop System Requirement are shown on the download pages above. If your laptop doesn't meet these requirements then it is not capable of running the software.

- When you connect the DDJ-FLX4 to your computer running rekordbox it will unlock the Performance Mode and a tutorial will open to walk you through the controller. A new install of rekordbox will automatically start a 30 day free trial of their Core Plan. You can ignore this as the controller will work during the trial and continue to work after that has expired. You do not need to subscribe to one of rekordbox plans to use the DDJ-FLX4.

- The DDJ-FLX4 comes with a USB C lead so you will need one of these smaller sockets on your computer. If you only have the older style USB A sockets on your computer then you will need to purchase a USB A to USB C lead.

- The controller is powered down the USB lead by your computer. The additional USB socket on the controller is reserved for powering the controller when it is being used with an iOS or Android device. Visit the App Store or Google Play Store to download rekordbox for your mobile device.

Connecting the DM-40D speakers

- The lead to connect speakers is inside the DM-40D box. The red and white connectors plug into the MASTER output on the back of the controller. The small jack end plugs into INPUT 2 on the back of the powered speaker.

- Make sure that the cable connecting the DM-40D speakers has been stripped back to bare wire. The wire needs to make contact with the metal part of the spring loaded terminal in order for the second speaker to work.

Distorted or crackling sound?

- If the sound is distorting you will likely need to increase the Audio Buffer size. Open up the Preferences in rekordbox and click on the Audio tab. Now move the slider below Buffer Size to the right which will increase the number of samples. Doing this will put less stress on your computer and reduce the likelihood of any distortion.

- In Serato DJ Lite click the cog symbol in the top right corner of the screen to open the preferences. Click on the Audio tab and move the Audio Buffer Size slider to the right. Increasing this buffer will put less stress on your computer and reduce the likelihood of any distortion.
